All School Production: The All School Production gives opportunities  to students on the stage and behind the scenes. The productions occur in the fall, winter and spring seasons. In the   past,  Cromwell High has presented numerous shows, such as:  Mama Mia, Willy Wonka, Legally Blonde, Rock of Ages, Anything Goes, Grease, Chicago, and 9 to 5. All acting/singing students must audition for parts in the plays and musicals. There are always opportunities for stage crew and tech crew as well.  Open to all students!

Carbon Club: The Cromwell Carbon Club (CCC) is a club open to all students at Cromwell High School.  Our aim is to reduce the school community’s carbon footprint through education, school wide initiatives and the promotion of carbon-neutral lifestyles.  The CCC aims to spread awareness of our mission not only within the school building, but throughout the Cromwell community considering carbon-neutral and environmentally-friendly practices  throughout the Cromwell public sphere.

Cromwell  Awareness Youth Action Council: CAYAC promotes awareness about substance abuse. CAYAC reaches out to other schools in our district and to the community at large. Some of the activities include making posters, announcements on social media and holding contests , all to promote awareness around common substances of abuse.

Chess Club gets together weekly to teach the game to beginners and to share strategies for more advanced players.  On occasion, the chess club will hold tournaments in house or with other schools.

Class Officers:  Each grade level holds elections for President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.  Members collaborate to plan and execute fundraising events, prom and some end of the year senior activities.  Members serve as a voice and advocate for the class regarding these decisions.  Those who wish to become class officers must demonstrate good leadership and strive for excellence.  Class officers must be positive role models and support their peers in and out of the classroom.  Class officer elections are held in May each school year.

Dance Team promotes school spirit, provides entertainment through the art of dance at athletic events, and represents the school while upholding community values at the highest caliber. Team members have personal goals of high academic achievement, increasing dance ability, learning effective time management, and forming strong friendships.

DECA:  The DECA mission statement is “to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management, competence, innovation, integrity and teamwork in high  schools and colleges around the globe.”  We will be conducting community outreach, campaign fundraising and school store operations.

Envirothon: Students compete in Envirothon, a statewide Environmental Science competition sponsored by the state’s soil and water Conservation Districts. Students compete at 4 field stations (forestry, wildlife, aquatics, and soils) and deliver an oral presentation on a current issue. This year’s current issue was Roots and Resiliency: Fostering Forest Stewardship in a canopy of change. Winners at the state level advance to a national competition. This is a medium commitment club. Most work has to be done on your own time. In this club we study for the four categories along with completing the current issue. We strive to spread awareness about the Earth and teach others how they can do better. This year’s theme is non-point source pollution. We are pleased to announce that 2025’s CHS participants (Khlan Garrett, Magdalena Kovacs, Samiah Perry, Jackson Vancini, and Bianca West, along with alternates Jason Sekscenski, and Siena Umba-Neuwinger) earned the Rookie of the Year award at this year’s Envirothon. They also placed 3rd out of 22 teams on their Current Issues presentation. Congratulations to all!

French National Honor Society:  The French National Honor Society celebrates French language and culture in France and francophone countries.  During the school year, students from that organization will sponsor a few different events to raise awareness of the culture of the French speaking world.  Students from this organization meet on Mondays and Wednesdays and will be working on several projects that will be displayed at the high school so that other students can learn and enjoy the culture that derives from the French speaking world.  The FNHS students will be offering tutoring in French during Advisory for students who take French classes at Cromwell High School.  Events will  include a Mardi Gras fundraiser, movie night and bingo night.

Educational Leadership Club: the purpose of this club is to cultivate an interest in education, provide a possible pathway to becoming an educator, and to provide meaningful and enriching experiences for Cromwell Public School students at the elementary, intermediate, middle and high school levels.

GSA:  The Gay-Straight Alliance, or GSA for short, is a primarily student-run organization that unites LGBTQ+ and allied youth to build community and organize around issues impacting them in their schools and communities. GSA not only operates as a safe space for students, but also as a vehicle for deep social change related to  social justice specifically centered around gender and love.

Jazz Band:  Jazz band is an auditioned group that.meets every Thursday night.   We play mostly jazz, rock, latin and funk music.  The Jazz Band will perform in school concerts, community events, and travel around the United States to compete in various performance festivals.

Literary Magazine: Cromwell High School's Literary Magazine is a positive environment where any student can improve their creative writing skills.  As a team we produce a literary magazine for the entire school to enjoy as well as provide a place for students to review and critique the works of their peers.  We run several writing  contests for the student  body each  year.  Members select topics of personal and general interest, and  with  the  assistance  of the club advisor, produce publishable quality pieces exhibiting excellence and merit. Any student may join this club.

Marching Band and Color Guard will be performance based clubs that will be open to anyone wishing to learn, play and perform a wind or percussion instrument or learn performance technique with flags and other color guard equipment. We meet after school to create a show consisting of marching in formation while playing our show music in coordination with a color guard routine. This would be a great fit for anyone interested in becoming a better musician and performer while learning to work with a team!

National Art Honor Society:  The purpose of the National Art Honor Society is to recognize and inspire high school art students in their pursuit of the highest standards of artistic ability while attending CHS. NAHS strongly supports students who are currently taking art courses and maintain a B average or higher in the class.  Also, if a student is unable to attend art class due to schedule conflicts, but displays a commitment to developing their art, special consideration for them to join is encouraged.

National Honor Society: The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization for 11th and 12th grade high schoolers that promotes leadership, service, character, and scholarship.  Students must maintain all pillars of NHS in order to maintain a part of the group.

Newspaper Club: The CHS Newspaper Club, holds its meetings every other Friday during the Advisory block. Meeting sessions are used for training, planning, and reviewing new story ideas for each edition. We work to gain experience in writing and digital publishing while working as a team to learn about our school and community. We sometimes have special guests and are also looking at potential field trips in the future as well. We welcome all members and encourage any students interested in journalism, writing, photography, music, or even comic-creation to join.  Our work is published digitally every month to our website.   We are also working to  publish  paper versions of our content.   We promote our website through our club social media.  Join us by contacting our advisor Doug McGough or see a member of our team!

Pep Band: The CHS Pep Band plays at all the home football games and pep rallies.  We play mostly pop and rock music and our goal is to pep up the crowd.

Principal's Advisory: This group of students meets with the principal, weekly, to discuss issues of concern at Cromwell High School. The meetings provide an opportunity for students to have their voices heard and to give input on matters that may directly affect the student population.  The Student Advisory team meets during the advisory period and is open to students in grades 9 - 12.

Robotics: CHS Robotics, otherwise known as The Bionic  Panthers, is a school-wide  Robotics team dedicated to learning, building, and programming robots through the Vex Robotics System. If you want to work with classmates to design competitive level robotics, competing against other schools in the state, this is the place to be!   It is not a requirement to be an exceptional robot builder or programmer; if you enjoy building things, programming , or the challenge of a good problem, this is a great place to expand your skills.

Select Choir:  Select choir is an auditioned group that rehearses weekly  after school and one Monday night per month. They have many performances  throughout the school  year.  In  addition to taking part in seasonal concerts at CHS, the Select choir competes in festivals within the yearly choir and band trip.  Students in the Select Choir should be prepared for a rigorous rehearsal schedule and challenging music that will bring them to the next level of choral mastery.

School to Career: Provide  students  with assistance in resume writing, interview skills and general employment opportunity questions for both the immediate  and future.  Students have the ability to meet with the advisor  before or after school with questions or help requests. School to Career also works hand in hand with the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce and the Business and Educational Council to arrange the Annual Career Expo at Wesleyan University.    Over 100 careers are represented with over 100 speakers as well as human resources professionals that provide mock job interviews for select students who are interested.

Scoreboard Graphics: Scoreboard graphics is responsible for creating graphics and running the scoreboard at Friday night home football games to promote and increase positivity and spirit of the spectators.  Team members will use creativity and learn important visual and technical skills.

Spanish National Honor Society: This student organization is also called the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, also known as “SNHH”.   The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is a national organization.  The purpose of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize high achievement in Spanish by students of secondary schools and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic studies.  Students must have a 90% or better in each Spanish language course they have taken during their Cromwell High School career.  Students are invited to participate via a google classroom and an application is required in order for the student to be admitted and inducted into this society.  The society requires 15 hours of community service.  7.5 hours need to be completed specifically supporting a latino community.  The other 7.5 hours could be shared with other clubs and societies.  The induction ceremony is usually the second week in November.
